My experience:

I've been counselling for over 20 years, and I'm accredited – this means I have “high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling” (BACP). I've been a therapist in a domestic abuse service, in schools, at a bereavement charity and a college for autistic adults. My approach is gentle and respectful, and I love what I do.

I help with: surviving abuse; harmful childhood experiences; loss; family pressures; PTSD; faith's effects on wellbeing; neurodiverse life; and unhealthy relationships.

Trauma-informed listening:
For some years, I've been a counsellor to survivors of sexual abuse. I know how mind and body respond to trauma, and how trauma can affect you. When you feel believed, emotions that seem scary now can become a source of strength.

How does therapy work?
Therapy deals with three things: what’s happened to you; how that still affects you, day-by-day; and how you can reconnect with your world.

You decide what to talk about, and how to talk about it. I will not judge you or sway your decisions. When a counsellor gets what you’re going through, you start to trust your own voice so you feel more in-control. You gain new insights into how your unconscious feelings can affect or transform you.

Counselling can be liberating... a place where you learn to live again.
